• Direct connection to the building’s electric lock: If our control unit can be connected (via a clean contact) directly to the electric lock, the intercom does not need any special features, as it will be completely bypassed. This is the best solution.
• Connection to the door release button near the entrance: If there is a button near the entrance that allows independent door opening, it is possible to connect directly to it in parallel. In this case, any intercom will work since no specific functionalities are required.
• Connection to the intercom: If a direct connection to the intercom is necessary, make sure it has an external input for door release. In this case, LabKey’s clean contact will act on that input. However, some intercoms require the doorbell to be rung first for the external input to function. This means the visitor must ring the doorbell before the clean contact can trigger the door opening.
