Hidden Wi-Fi network
What is the hidden Wi-FI network ?
A hidden Wi-Fi network enhances the security of your access control systems. Learn how it can be used to manage and secure access. By using a hidden network, you can prevent unauthorized access and ensure that only trusted devices can connect, adding an extra layer of protection to your security.
What’s the meaning?
This means that the router’s network name won’t be visible when a wireless device or computer searches for available networks nearby.
Hidden Wi-Fi network and LabKey
LabKey access control systems use Wi-Fi technology to monitor entrances and exits in places like car parks, workplaces, hotels, and B&Bs. However, too many visible networks in a location, like a hotel, can clog the connection.
To avoid this, it’s a good practice to hide networks so that guests or customers only see essential, usable ones.
You can now connect to a hidden network and hide it from the LabKey control unit.
Why can the hidden network be useful?
By hiding the network, LabKey’s networks won’t appear when searching for available connections on PCs or phones. This prevents disturbances for customers or employees while searching for a network, and it increases overall security.
